Criteria

Purpose

As the Triangle area continues to grow, the variety of housing options and solutions continues to expand. The purpose of the Residential Architecture Tour is to share the area’s best residential designs with as many people as possible. The tour exposes the value of an architect-led design as well as leading residential architects, contractors and consultants of the Triangle. Each year, the tour seeks to include the area’s variety of excellent residential projects – from urban infill & adaptive reuse to condominiums, historic preservation to new construction, renovations and additions.

Eligibility

Eligible entries must be authored by a member or associate member of AlA Triangle. Entries may have any location in the Triangle. An entrant may enter more than one submission. Entries may have a future date of completion, however, must have a Certificate of Occupancy at least one month prior to the Tour and be substantially completed by July 9 in order to be judged. All entries must be available for public tour on September 23, 2017.

Award Criteria

All entries will be judged on the basis of their architectural design excellence. The AIA Triangle Residential Tour promotes excellence in design regardless of residential type. Jurors will be asked to consider important issues/challenges particular to each project type. However, all entries will be judged collectively. The jury will decide the number of awards to be given.

Publicity & Exhibition

All award winners will be open for public tour on September 23, 2017. Furthermore, the AIA Triangle Residential Tour intends to publish the entries receiving awards on this web site and as much as possible throughout the year.
